Both ends of York Road and Heygate Avenue were cordoned off by police for most of the day, with only residents of York Road allowed to walk through the police cordons after their names had been written down by police officers. A female police officer held guard at the top end of York Road, whilst a male police officer held guard of the bottom end, with a couple of officers hanging around the middle areas of the long and troublesome York Road.
Lots of youngsters congregate in York Road, many times peacefully, but the road has had its fair share of stabbings and murders in the past. CID’s are still trying to piece together what caused the double stabbing.
