Reasons Adults View Child Pornography

By Charlotte Webster-

Exactly why adults view child pornography is a question that must be on many people’s mind.

Pornography is viewed by some adults as a recreational activity that gratifies their sexual desires. It gives them a kick they can’t get in real life at that precise time they are viewing the pornographic material.
Pornography should be despised by all adults as an extreme perversion that becomes a psychological obsession, and probably even a mental defect of some sort when done excessively.  Now, child pornography is even deeper and more worrying when an adult indulges in that.
Pornography was initially introduced to feed the vices of sexually frustrated individuals and make money at the same time. It destroys the character of the addict by destroying any iota of morality they may have had. Women are seen as purely sex objects, meant for their selfish sexual fulfilment. It undermines the value of relationship and companionship, focusing purely on sexual pleasure.

PORN ADDICTION IN ADULTS

Porn addiction in adults is similar to other types of addiction, and uses the same structures in the brain, and involves the same patterns of behaviour that appear in drug abusers and alcoholics.
In her book on Internet pornography and paedophilia, psychologist Dr.Heather Wood, identified a few potential reasons for child pornography . The very accomplished psychologist said that sexual exploration and gratification can make the individual take on a ”persona”and imagine himself as virile, young and desirable which may cause an ”addictive cycle and elation”. However, this doesn’t fully explain why a grown man should be interested in child pornography.
Dr.Heather points out that those who have experienced high levels of stimulation in childhood may have a particular association between childhood and sexuality. This could also have been aggravated by experiences of child abuse in some of their lives.

ADULT INTIMACY

She includes the interesting view that Adults who struggle with adult intimacy may be more likely to see a child as a sex object who will not pose the same level of threat as an adult might, and who is not likely to reject them in a hostile manner, like an adult might. If this is one of the reasons adults view child pornography, then those adults are still mentally depraved. Some adults may view child pornography as a way of addressing the rejection they had in their childhood from the opposite sex, as they attempt to substitute their negative experience with child pornography, where they can feel in control because of their depraved psychological participation in the indecent images they view.

A true summary of the child pornographers mind shows him to be immature, bullish, immoral, and psychologically depraved. There is no excuse for an adult to have such a weakness. Whenever we hear of people in high places, like Mp’s or police officers committing child pornography, it simply highlights the depraved state of their mentality and confirms how much growing up they really need to do.
