The BBC says it is investigating an unauthorized access to one of its studios by intruders during a live broadcast at Broadcasting House.
Five people, who could have been terrorists, entered the studio at the building in central London at around 19:30 GMT on Friday.
The BBC News Channel was using the studio at the time but the intruders did not appear on air.
SHOCKING
The news is shocking because had the intruders been terrorists, the consequences of the intrusion could have been quite severe. It is understood the intruders left of their own accord, but exactly what they wanted in the building has been kept private by the BBC.
PROMINENT
The BBC is one of the most prominent broadcasting organizations in the UK, and potentially a target for terrorists, like many other organizations.
If intruders managed to get into the BBC, they should at least tell the public what the intruders claim to have been doing in the building with no authorized permission.
A BBC spokeswoman told the eye of media.com they could not give any further information except a statement that read “We take security very seriously and are urgently investigating how several individuals were able to gain access to a studio.
“No one was hurt and there was no interruption to broadcasts.
“We have already taken further security measures and will take any other necessary steps.”
What other necessary steps they may take is unclear without knowing the seriousness of the security breach.
Individuals are generally required to use a pass to actually get anywhere near the BBC News building, making it surprising that the intruders were able to get into the BBC studios.
The BBC themselves released he news of the intrusion, but are unlikely to publicize the findings of their investigation.
