Norwegian Singer Sigrid Celebrating BBC Award

Norwegian singer Sigrid, who is signed to Island is celebrating after being named the 2018 winner of the annual BBC music Sound of poll.

 

sigridSigrid s made a notable impact in 2017 with her Don’t Kill My Vibe EP which garnered more than 100 million global streams. The Eye Of Media.Com at the time featured her song on our internet radio after one of her representatives contacted us and we played it again and again. The team is proud of her success and believe she has a lot more to give. Humble Sigrid has attained over 2m Spotify listeners and also secured Radio 1 playlist support during 2017. The Eye Of Media. Sigrid only started making music four years ago when her musician brother told her he needed a new song for a gig two weeks later. Her feat is impressive and deserves all the accolades she can get.

Tearfully reacting to her win, Sigrid said:

“It’s a lot to take in to have won something as prestigious as BBC Music Sound Of. Her music is full of talent

I feel honored as there are so many other artists I look up to who have won this before me, and honestly, I’m just really happy and proud of what my team and I have achieved together.

Sigrid was chosen by a panel of more than 170 music experts and tastemakers including former winners and longlist nominees.
This year’s shortlist included Rex Orange County (Kobalt/AWAL), IAMDDB (Union IV), Khalid (Columbia) and Pale Waves (Dirty Hit). The Norwegian beauty is feeling on top of the world after the prestigious award.

Sigrid said:

“It’s a lot to take in to have won something as prestigious as BBC Music Sound Of. I feel honored as there are so many other artists I look up to who have won this before me, and honestly, I’m just really happy and proud of what my team and I have achieved together. I’m from a small town called Ålesund in Norway.

The list, compiled annually by BBC News, launched in 2003. Previous winners have included Years & Years, Adele, Sam Smith, Haim and Ellie Goulding.
