America Republican presidential candidate, Donald Trump, has reached the number of delegates needed to secure the party’s presidential nomination for the next elections.
His achievement of the quota was due to a small number of the party’s unbound delegates who have vowed to support him at July’s Republican convention.
They told AP they would support him at July’s Republican convention.
Mr Trump defeated 16 other Republican contenders, coming up with 1,238 delegates , precisely one number more than was needed.
Republicans are expected to finalize their nomination at a convention in Cleveland in July, though Trump’s victory in securing the party’s presidential nomination seems certain
SUPPORT
The New York real estate mogul must be on a real high following the support of a Republican Party establishment predominantly distant from him for majority of his controversial campaign. The rivalry and objections against his candidacy has been ever so strong because of the extra radical policies that wait to become law under a Trump leadership as President of the U.S.A and most powerful man in the world. His closest presidential rivals – Ted Cruz, John Kasich and Marco Rubio – have not freed up delegates to pledge their support for Mr Trump, though Trump is not expected to need their support or approval.
The Republican convention in Cleveland will be the Donald Trump show, and everyone not with him will be spectators or – as his recent criticism of Republican Governor Susanna Martinez of New Mexico has shown – targets.
An American government with Trump as its leader will have profound implications for America and the rest of the world. Muslims will be temporarily banned from entering America, though there is likely to be an outcry against this from all corners. Trump might be hell bent on having stamping his ideals on a country that has many silent supporters for just about any kind of extreme legislation that will change the landscape of the country forever.
Trump has many doubters to convince, but will be content with having sufficient internal support necessary to give him the power needed to implement his ideologies on America, to which the rest of the world will have to conform. There are still prophets of doom for Trump, who believe that at the last moment he will fail to actually win the White House, where he firmly has his sights on in order to execute his grand visions.
The final battle he will have will be in overall votes cast, much of which will depend on how successful his campaign is in winning the general support of voters in a country so big and diverse like America. Social media will also be instrumental in raising or depressing his profile on the voting landscape, and could be a key factor as to whether the fact he has secured the party’s presidential nomination for the next elections will be enough to put him in power.
