As we all know pop princess Rihanna has been taking time out to concentrate on other things, leaving us with severel withdrawal symptoms from her catchy tunes. We finally had a song from her, with Kanye West and Paul McCartney which had plans to keep us stump for a little while. “Fourfiveseconds” from the trio was released last month in February, far from her typical chart toppers and a shock to most of her fans. So it’s safe to say quite frankly that’s not good enough to feed our appetites: but the wait is over, well nearly!!
“Home” her new movie isn’t out until next week on March 24, but somehow the two remaining unheard Riri tracks have managed to leak online a few days prior to its release. This is a major disappointment for the Barbados singer and her major label distributing the soundtrack. The two Rihanna tracks that we were missing (as we had already heard “Towards the Sun” in full) were “As Real as you and me” and “Dancing in the Dark”. A silky ballad and an up-tempo tune which was co-written by Rihanna herself and produced by Rodney “Dark Child” Jerkins. Dark Child has been responsible for millions of bangers with the likes of Destiny’s Child, Jason DeRulo and many more. Rihanna’s new animation is the second to add to her list of “Films” and she’s made it clear she plans to feature in much more. In her new flick “Home” she plays a teenager called “Tip” who goes on a journey to find her mother played by “Love don’t cost a thing” singer Jennifer Lopez. Let’s not give the whole plot away now, time to buy them cinema tickets folks.
NEW ALBUM:
THREE years is the longest we have ever had to wait for Rihanna to give us something new. The 27 year old is forever providing us with a new album every year. Rihanna’s last album produced several number 1’s, “Diamonds” and “Stay” being two of them. Rihanna explained “a lot of the songs on the new LP will be soulful, heartfelt tunes to remember” Chris Browns ex continued “I’ve made a lot of songs that are really, really big songs,” “From the jump, they just blow up. And I wanted to kind of get back to — not that they weren’t real music, but I just wanted to focus on things that felt real, that felt soulful, that felt forever.”
EMBARRASSED & TIMELESS:
Can you believe the beauty doesn’t like her old material? Despite giving the world smashing iconic hits such as “Umbrella”, “We Found Love”, “Pon De Replay” and “Rude Boy”, the star admits that she feels embarrassed about her older material. “It doesn’t reflect me right now”. Shocked? We are. Although she takes sheer pride in her music being timeless and not aging like the artist, which she’s hoping to continuously avoid with album number eight.
“I wanted songs that I could perform in 15 years; I wanted an album that I could perform in 15 years, not any songs that were burnt out. I find that when I get on stage now, I don’t want to perform a lot of my songs. They don’t feel like me. So I want to make songs that are timeless”
You thought the wait was over? You’re mistaken, despite keeping us waiting for nearly 3 years “R8” will be unveiled later in 2015 and her own words describing her album is it will feature her best work yet. Rest assured she has a busy year with the film, more projects and making history as the first black campaign star for French fashion label designer Dior, describing the landmark casting as “It is such a big deal for me, for my culture, for a lot of young girls of any colour.”
Looks like these leaked hits is all we will be getting till the rest of the year..
