KANYE WEST QUEEN BOHEMIAN FLOP GOES VIRAL ON YOUTUBE

BY LUCY CAULKETT

Kanye West may not have been booed off stage at Glastonbury, but he was booed when he tried to perform Freddie Mercury’s famous hit, and fiddled with his ear piece. completely and utterly failed when he attempted to sing Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody at Glastonbury.

A mash-up video has gone viral on YouTube which shows Kanye laugh at the beginning of the song as he tried to get in tune whilst archive footage of Freddie then flashes up of him looking slightly stunned before bursting out laughing and performing the song himself. The video has already made over a million hits, with many ridiculing West for the cock up. West who inclusion in the Glastonbury line up was fiercely opposed, did reasonably well over all, but one clear thing is that he will never have the same legacy as Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, John Lennon, or compare with rap stars of old like Tupac, Biggie small etc.

His exalted self perception of being the ”greatest rock star ever” is nothing short of an inflated ego which only he and a fraction of his obsessed fans have. The success of his records sales speak of the appeal his music have among those with a taste for that sort of music, but not even his sales rank among the very best of his generation. West undoubtedly has a high business acumen as reflected in his manifold exploits in the entrepreneurship department. Though with affluence often comes the aptitude for widely varied business endeavours. At the recent New york fashion week, West who designed a sneakers brand in collaboration with sportswear brand Adidas had the sneakers sell out within 15mins from being on sale, and the yeezy boost 350 sneaker have been selling for £10,000 dollars on ebay-quite pricey, eh?

West comes from a middle class background- his mother was a professor of English at Clark Atlanta University, and was  chair of English department  Chicago State University. His mother Donda West died in 2007 at the age of 59- a death the rapper blames himself for. ”If I never went to L.A she would still be here, he told gq magazine this month. I don’t want to go into it because it will bring me to tears”. West himself commenced an English course at University before dropping out to pursue a music career that ha snow earned him multi millions of dollars. You would like to think his strong academic background would give him an edge in the formulation of his lyrics, and to his credit, his music career has succeeded. Career success does not equal personal success, and whilst West has succeeded in selling several albums, he has not succeeded in winning the hearts of the people in general
