LEGAL SUIT AGAINST JEREMY CLARKSON AND THE BBC DOES NOT BODE WELL FOR THE CORPORATION

News that Jeremy Clarkson and the BBC are being sued for racial discrimination are worrying and raise serious questions that could affect the integrity of the BBC. Clarkson and the BBC are being sued for ‘racial discrimination’ by former ‘Top Gear’ producer Oisin Tymon following the infamous ‘fracas’ that led to the presenter being sacked from the motoring show. Clarkson has a track record of using racially charged connotations of addressing people in a derogatory manner, examples of which have been featured in our articles in the past. He has always got away with it in the past, but may have come unstuck this time like he did when his contract was terminated for his irrational attack on the producer that cost him his job. Racial discrimination is a criminal offense in this country, but there isn’t any clearly defined punishment for it outlined in the parliamentary statute.

Clarkson had attacked Oison in the fracas that led to his dismissal because he had failed to provide him a meal to his taste. Instead of ordering one himself, he resorted to immature violence. He was eventually sacked from the job, but escaped prosecution despite the police knowing that he had committed a criminal offense. This was a clear example of the rich and famous escaping punishment because of their position in society.

Lawyers for Clarkson and the BBC had a private hearing at a London tribunal today with the producer, who was punched by the TV presenter during a ‘physical and verbal incident’. The latest allegations of racism have not been specified but are alleged to cover an extensive period of time. The fact the producer has gone as far as launching a legal suit makes it bothersome exactly what constitutes the allegation of racism here.

Allegations of racism in the BBC is not good for the multi national corporation which has generally built a respectable reputation for quality and impartial news over the decades, as will as promoted diversity, thereby setting the bar high for equality of treatment. It is hoped the BBC will come of of this unscathed, though it is yet to be seen how things eventually transpire in court. Let’s hope the allegations are proven to be without legitimate foundation, at least in terms of that levied against the BBC.

A BBC spokesperson told The eye of media“We will be responding to this claim but will not be commenting further at this time.”
