Kanye West takes over stadium for rap proposal to Kim Kardashian Kanye West’s grand proposal to his wife, KimKardashian at the San Fransisco’s giant’s stadium was illegally uploaded on YouTube, according to allegations by the American rap star. The pair first sued former youtube CEO, Chad Hurley in 2013, after Hurley uploaded a video of Kanye’s proposal, originally scheduled to first air on reality show’keeping up with the Kardashians under the umbrella of the entertainment and production company, Bunim/Murray. The video posted on the app Mixtip appeared online before the television network could exclusively air the proposal.
Hurley’s lawyers appealed against a ruling last year permitting the hearing of the case to proceed, but the appeals court yesterday
upheld that ruling, citing fraud, breach of contract, and unjust enrichment, as strong grounds on which the celebrity couple stand a good chance of victory. Hurley had signed a confidential agreement, but are alleged to have breached the agreement when they shared the footage.. Hurley has argued that the agreement did not extend to any posts on mix bits, but this position is likely to fail since an agreement of confidentiality would require permission to disclose information obtained in confidence on any public platform. A photograph of the pair kissing on their wedding day was named went viral on Instagram, commanding over 2 million likes.
The rap star, worth a fortune, has dominated several press headlines about music celebs, and was recently the subject of a wide petition of over 90,000 people calling for him not to be allowed to headline the Glastonbury festival this year. Glastonbury organisers slammed the call to ban him, insisting people should be happy and excited about West’s inclusion in the annual
festival. This court case may yet widen his media appeal and send a warning to all media outlets to be mindful of breaching agreements of celebs, especially as the legal costs of suing any media organisation will be a drop in the Ocean to them.
