ITV have been threatened with court action over a planned EU broadcast in June. The threat of court action has arisen over the corporations plans to present Nick Farage as the representative for the scheduuled national debate on June 7.
The row started over ITV’s recent announcement that it would hold an hour programme on June 7 that will feature Cameron and Nick Farage. It is alleged that the broadcaster ”privately stitched up a deal with No 10 to prevent either Boris Johnson or Michael Gove from participating in the debate because they will be more competent at presenting quality arguments for leaving EU, according to the Brexit group led by former London Mayor, Boris Johnson.Johnson warned of ”consequences” for ITV’s future, without stating what those consequences would be.
With the date for the referendum drawing closer, desperation to ensure victory on both parties is high. Aggrieved parties warned that those in no 10 won’t be there long, drawing conclusions that the future of the prime minister rests heavily on the results of the referendum, something Boris Johnson has in past times denied as a prospect before his sights in his EU race to rally the country behind him.
Meanwhile, counterarguments to the allegations have been presented to the effect of the plan by ITV being reasonable in its effect of preventing an internal disaster that can be created if Cameron and Johnson go to political war on national television. Some fear that it could impact dangerously against the party since they are both from the same party. However, this is what makes the EU debate a very serious and interesting one in which both sides of the argument are eager to persuade the public to see the sense in supporting them.
The tension is building and showing no signs of slowing down in this all important referendum that can change the future of the country positively or negatively. American president, Barack Obama has warned of the dangers of leaving the EU, stating that it will push Britain to the back of the queue. Meanwhile, Presidential hopeful, Donald Trump, is all for leaving the EU, so the world will watch as the political giants battle it out and earnestly try to secure their view on the sort of Britain they feel is better for us all.
