Police Officer Sacked For Biting Woman’s Nose

By James Simons

A police officer has been sacked for biting a woman’s nose leaving her victim with permanent scarring.

Pc Rebecca Barnett has been dismissed from Thames Valley Police following a disciplinary hearing which found that her off-duty actions amounted to gross misconduct.
The shamed officer had previously pleaded guilty to a charge of GBH without intent in relation to the incident which happened on June 10 2017, in Banbury, Oxfordshire. She is due to be sentenced at Oxford Crown Court on June 11. The news is disappointing and yet again reveals that there are a number of bad apples in the police force. It is deeply shocking that an officer whose profession actively involves enforcing the law and bringing violent offenders to justice, would commit such a barbaric offence.

Police officers who behave in this manner have no regard for the law they are supposed to defend. Neither do they have any morals at all. Last year and the year before in 2017, numerous police officers were convicted and exposed for criminal conduct of varying sorts. Only last week, 43 year old Darren Mckie was jailed for life at Chester Crown Court for killing his wife, Leanne Mckie. He strangled his wife and disposed her body in what the judge described as a ”callous and despicable way”.

DISGRACE

Pc Barnett is a disgrace to the police force and has ruined her career chances of progressing in the force. As an officer she should have known a lot better than to bite another woman’s nose. Every police officer is aware than violent actions would lead to a police case and a prosecution, but they keep their expert knowledge on the shelf when dealing with these matters.

A force spokesman said: “Whilst off duty, Pc Barnett became involved in an argument with a woman, and a scuffle ensued.

“Pc Barnett then grabbed the woman and bit her on the nose, causing a significant injury, which required surgery and has left the victim with permanent scarring.”

Deputy Chief Constable John Campbell said: “Pc Barnett’s actions were very much below the standards expected of an off-duty police officer.

“Barnett has been convicted of a violent offence and it would be completely unacceptable for her to continue in her duties protecting the public as a serving police officer.”
