American sprinter Noah Lyles has cemented his place in history with a spectacular performance at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo. Lyles, 28, secured his fourth consecutive men’s 200m title, a feat previously achieved only by the legendary Usain Bolt. The Lyles 200m victory was a masterclass in sprinting. He ran a blistering 19.52 seconds, holding off a powerful challenge from his competitors. After the race, a jubilant Lyles said he was looking forward to the next championships to become the only man with five titles.

The race proved to be one of the most competitive 200m finals ever. Lyles, with his signature blonde dreadlocks flying, managed to maintain his top-end speed in the final 40 meters. Kenny Bednarek, his US teammate, finished in second place. Lyles’ win was a remarkable comeback from his past Olympic performance in Tokyo, which he said had left him feeling depressed. This time, he said, he felt energized and loved the support from the crowd. He ran a season-best 19.51 in the semi-final. This latest Lyles 200m victory confirmed his dominance in the event he holds most dear.
