TENSION HEIGHTENS AS CHINA SENDS WAR PLANES TO ISLAND IN SOUTH CHINA SEA

China has deployed fighter jets to a contested island in the South China Sea, the same island where China deployed surface-to-air missiles last week,

Fox News were recently told by two prominent U.S officials. According to one of the U.S officials, the number of Chinese warplanes is under ten. The deepening conflict emerged as an embarrassing contradiction to a statement made by the Chinese Foreign Minister, Wang Yi, at the statement of Department.

Wang said yesterday when being hosted by the Pentagon, that he hoped “close up” military flights and patrols by U.S. Navy ships over the contested islands would end, consistent with the wishes of the U.S foreign Minister.

Fox news reported that Chinese Shenyang J-11s (“Flanker”) and Xian JH-7s (“Flounder”) have been spotted by U.S. intelligence on Woody Island in the past few days, the same island where China had sent two batteries of HQ-9 surface-to-air missiles whilst President Obama was hosting 10 Southeast Asian leaders in Palm Springs.
