LEEDS PUB LANDLORD CAUGHT IN POSSESSION OF COCAINE AFTER RAIDS BY COPS

BY LUCY CAULKETT

A landlord from Leeds, West Yorkshire, has been jailed for the possession of class A drugs, found in bags in a kitchen cupboard in the pubs living quarters. The drug had been divided up and placed in bags, seemingly for the purpose of distribution. Digital scales were also found in the premises. Michael Faulding is the manager of the pub and was also living at the premises when cops raided the pub unannounced. The 41 year old who pleaded guilty to possession of class A drugs with intent to supply, refused to answer questions to cops, lacking even the intelligence to make up a lie which most likely would not have been accepted by cops.

Timothy Capstick, told the court that Faulding had no previous convictions for drug offences and had not been in trouble since the incident. The defense barrister added that Faulding had no intention to use it for commercial gain but had been using the drug for personal use and also sharing with friends. Oh, great, what a good role model! A man who admitted possession with intent to supply now wants us to believe he had no intention to use it for commercial gain, but rather for purely recreational purposes. Having no previous convictions is irrelevant when you are caught with class A drugs with the intention of supply. Even more disappointing is the fact that this guy is a landlord and manager, already earning a living from the pub but clearly too greedy to be satisfied with his income.

Cocaine use is prevalent in many social circles in England, but is very addictive and destructive, and expensive. Users basically pay a lot to destroy themselves without realizing this. A lot of rich circles particularly find consumption of the drug to be cool, and provide some affirmation of their riches, when in reality they are setting a bad example for the younger generation who often seek to emulate adults.

The pub which boasts a beer garden, has a big television screen with Sky sports and terrestial television that frequently show football matches. It is also well known for hosting quiz shows and conducting poker nights. It is not the first time pub landlords have been caught and jailed for possession of class A drugs- a worrying trend that reveals the inclination for pub bosses to dabble in illegal activities despite running a legal business. Faulding was given a 16 months suspended sentence for two years. Police customarily do not release the pictures of defendants who are not jailed
