WBO President: Tyson Fury May Not Be Stripped Of WBO Title

By Tim Parsons-

Tyson Fury may not be stripped of his World title belt, the WBO president has said. Francisco Valcarcel told the eye of media.com that he is waiting for Fury’s team to give good reason why they should not strip him off the title.

”We are waiting  for communication from the British boxing board of control, he told the eye of media.com. We will have to go through a lot of documentation to determine what will happen with Fury’s title, whether he will be stripped or not”.

Referring to the cocaine found in Fury’s system following a recent drug test, the WBO chief said a ban would not be automatic, but depend on a wide number of factors. Cocaine, for instance, is not a perform enhancement drug, despite being illegal. It works more to the disadvantage of the fighter.
Britain’s heavyweight hope, Anthony Joshua, has his eyes  sharply fixed on a heavyweight showdown with Wladimir Klitschko, as a replacement for Fury who disappointingly pulled out of his fight with Wladimir Klitschko. The WBO chief clarified that a fight between klitschco and Joshua will be voluntary, for the IBF title
Eddie Hearns has been on the blower to Klitschko’s team a few times already in the past few days, striving to make the biggest heavyweight fight this year, happen between Fury and Klitschko. Such a big fight will earn big dosh for both rich fighters, and really open the door for Joshua to take charge of the heavyweight division.  The IBF champion has a good chance of winning, but will be up against the determination and hunger of a very experienced former champion, who had already trained very hard  for the rematch with Fury, and will now have extra time to train even more.
However, Fury could throw the potential big fight out of the window, if he presents a good reason to the British boxing board of governors for his withdrawal from the fight. WBO  chief Francesco Valcarcel emphasized that Fury may be able to fight again to defend his titles once they receive legitimate documentation explaining his withdrawal.
Fury has been a big disappointment to the British public of late, pulling out twice from a big £6m fight, after initially injuring his ankle when raving like a lunatic at a night club where he attempted to jump over a hurdle. He withdrew  a second time from the long awaited rematch after he took a drug test in which he knew would eventually reveal cocaine in it.
However, the presence of cocaine in his system may not be an automatic ban for the trouble champion, who has an angry Klitschko waiting to pounce on him and regain his titles. Fury is undoubtedly the most irresponsible world champion the heavyweight division has had in years; we will have to go as far back as Mike Tyson to find one who comes close.
Yet, even Iron Mike Tyson, was often in top shape and never pulled out from a fight. He contributed his bit to boxing history, providing one of the most exciting times in boxing history. He was sure crazy in and out of the ring, but there was a method to his madness as a fighter, and can never really be disrespect despite his 5 losses, one of them to Britain’s Lennox Lewis.
Fury will be a mug to allow Joshua come from behind him and take all his belts. All he ever achieved would go to waste in the minds of boxing fans. Joshua against Klitschko would be a great fight to see, but the Brit will have a psychological advantage over an aging former champion already beaten by Fury.
Should Fury be given a chance to defend his belts, despite the Cocaine found in his system, he will be one of the luckiest guys in the sport.  At the moment, he looks like a messer in the sport, holding up the progress of the division, after not fighting for a whole year.
