Three people have been arrested in Essex on suspicion of assisting the Russian intelligence service. The arrests, which involved two men and one woman, were made by the Metropolitan Police as part of a counter-terror investigation. A 41-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman were detained at a Grays address, while a 46-year-old man was arrested at a separate property in the same area. He noted that those individuals are facing potentially lengthy custodial sentences. Murphy stressed that the current arrests are not connected to that case. He added a stark warning for anyone considering such actions: “Anyone who might be contacted by and tempted into carrying out criminal activity on behalf of a foreign state here in the UK should think again.”
