RUSSELL BRAND NEEDS TO REBRAND HIMSELF AFTER DOCUMENTYARY FLOP

BY JAMES SIMONS

Russell Brand seems to have gone quiet and disappeared since the flop of the documentary on his life which he boycotted.
Brand was becoming a little unbearable in the outrageous ways he expressed his views, and there seemed to be no boundaries to the things he would say just to get heard. The 40 year old, who transformed his life from a drug addict to a television personality, had everything at his disposal; money, women, fame, and all that came with it. He really should have held those dear to his chest. Instead, he unwittingly opted for notoriety, refusing to draw a line under his views.

Brand, who has boasted of shagging several women in his day, eventually decided to get married to Kate Perry in 2010, but that only lasted two years. The love affair with the pretty celeb simply did not last the course. Then we had Brand take a pop at the royal family at almost every given opportunity, make jokes about serious things at his often well attended comedies. He once suggested that the ISIS(the muslim extremist fundamental group) flag should be allowed to fly across Buckingham palace. How insensitive and reckless can anyone be? I was surprised he did not come out with a similarly outrageous statement after the atrocities in Paris that killed over 130 just over a week ago, because I was expecting a provocative comment from Brand.

Undeterred by continued criticism by the press, Brand continued to lambast people in high places without any solid reason for the motive of his criticism. Make no mistake, Brand is not scare to speak his mind; the audacity of his words are beyond belief. He can be very funny in many ways, but the insensitive and unregulated aspects of his words takes away from the potential of his comic skills and abilities.

On the plus side, this outspoken poiltician turned activist says he wants to make the world a better place. He has actively advocated the dismantling of capitalism in place of equal communities without centralized power structures. His vision for the world is good but unrealistic for modern socities. A producer proposes a documentary about his life, which he agrees to. Then he opposes it because the documentary will have scenes he would rather were left out. In the end, this man who wants to be a voice gfor the people has only 23 people watch the story of his life; a sign that his initial popularity has plummetted severely. It may be the outcome he wanted in light of his discontentment with some of the contents in the doc. After all, some of the things he wanted excluded from the film which were not granted did not get to be seen by many people at all. However, it still sent the message that not many people were interested in watching the story of his life. That in itself is a blow to a man once loved and admired by everyone. Perhaps he needs to rebrand himself more positively.
