New Investigation into clinton Should Not Change American Elections

By Aaron Miller-

The newly announced investigation into Hillary Clinton’s emails should not change the overall outcome of the American elections should not be affected by American voters.

The announcement by FBI Director James Comey to Congress Friday that the agency are back to reviewing emails related to Hillary Clinton‘s personal server, is a shock to the U.S elections.  The new information is said to be relevant to the case.

The announcement has also shocked the Clinton campaign. The FBI have said they had no choice but to investigate the emails.

Comey sent a letter to key members of Congress on Friday informing them that although the FBI had previously announced that the investigation into Clinton’s email server was completed, new information had prompted additional review.

“In connection with an unrelated case, the FBI has learned of the existence of emails that appear to be pertinent to the investigation,” Comey wrote in a letter released Friday. The worrying thing about the announcement is Comey’s statement that he does not know how long the new investigations will take, or whether the new material is significant. This unclear position makes it clear that the new investigation should not change the overall outcome of the American elections.
James Comey and others have said repeatedly that while they found classified information on Clinton’s server, they could not find evidence that Clinton knowingly sent or received sensitive information. Therefore, charges were not warranted, according to Comey.

FBI INVESTIGATION REVIEW OF HILLARY CLINTON

The emails that prompted the latest FBI review related to Hillary Clinton’s private server emerged from a separate federal investigation of former Rep. Anthony Weaner. It relates to an explicit text message that Weaner is said to have sent to a 15 year- old girl in North Carolina. Emails discovered on at least one device used by Weiner and his wife, Clinton aide Huma Abedin, according to sources close to the investigation. The subject of this investigation is whether they contain classified information. The emails were not sent by Hillary Clinton herself, so would only be detrimental to her campaign if there is anything incriminating in it that sheds any extra light on the initial email investigations or contain anything criminal in it.

ELECTION RESULTS

The results should not have any bearing on the election results, but we never know how the American electorate could respond to this. Most Hillary Clinton supporters should not be persuaded to change their votes over this recent revelation. It is the undecided voters who cannot be predicted at times like this when new information comes out. Donald Trump’s campaign could seize the opportunity to try and gather momentum by highlighting the view that Clinton is not credible. Whilst it might be true that Clinton’s may not be fully credible, Donald Trump would appear to be less credible on the evidence we have before us.
The FBI previously concluded that the email of Hillary Clinton they investigated revealed issues of carelessness, but not criminal activity. Therefore, without concrete evidence pointing to criminal or illegal activity on the part of Hillary Clinton, the overall outcome of these elections should not be affected by the new announcement by the FBI.
