Parliament will be recalled on Monday to pay tribute as vigils were held in Cox’s constituency and around the country.

A charitable appeal in Cox’s name has raised more than £200,000 to support volunteers combating loneliness, to challenge extremism, and to fund search and rescue workers in Syria. The Conservatives, the Lib Dems and Ukip all said they would not contest Cox’s vacant seat of Batley and Spen at a by election.

Flags were lowered to half mast at Buckingham Palace, the Palace of Westminster and Holyrood house .  The attack was a sad day for the country.the referendum campaigns suspended The prime minister said the nation was shocked at the death of one of parliament’s “most passionate and brilliant campaigners”. He said it was time for the UK to think about the need to “treasure and value our democracy”.

The EU referendum is  Britain’s biggest political examination on the future of the country in terms of its political identity and position. The decision taken by the country will have several effects on many fronts, most notably it’s sovereignty and economic might. Those in favor of leaving the EU, believe are mainly concerned on controlling  immigration, followed by the issue of sovereignty. Those who want to remain are concerned about the effects a Brexit could have on the economy.

Arguments on both sides have been strongly pushed, with Remain campaigners, led by David Cameron warning the country of the damage leaving will do to the UK economy. Leave campaigners have branded Cameron’s warnings ‘scaremongering’, but passionate campaigning have swayed many to believe him, with many more doubtful according to recent polls. However, dangerous Tommy Maire couldn’t risk the effects of Joe Cox’s passionate campaigning swaying  more voter’s to the Remain camp, and took the evil decision to take the law into his own hands. His murder charge will definitely lead to a conviction.
