Miraculous Stray Cat Recovering After Emergency Surgery

By Chris Williamson-

A miraculous cat found impaled on an 8ft metal fence railings in London last week has undergone emergency life saving surgery and is continuing his ‘remarkable recovery’ at RSPCA Harmsworth Animal Hospital.

The railings had narrowly missed damaging the vital organs of the cat known as Angus.

Since the surgery at a veterinary practice in Hendon, Angus was moved to RSPCA Harmsworth Animal Hospital yesterday , Tuesday, to continue his recuperation, the RSPCA has said.

Networking administrator from RSPCA Harmsworth, Emma Yelland said: “Angus is a lovely cat and like most people who have heard about his story, we can’t quite believe he not only survived, but is recovering so well. His appetite isn’t great just yet but he’s eaten a few pilchards this morning.

“He’s a bit bewildered from all his trauma over the last few days, but he is very friendly and comfortable. He’s bright and alert and up on his feet walking about a little, although we’re trying to limit that while his wounds heal.

“The vets in Hendon who performed the emergency surgery really did save his life, and we’re very pleased we can now have him here with us to continue his recuperation. At first we thought he might have to have his back leg amputated, as one of the posts pierced it quite severely, howeve

The RSPA told The Eye Of Media.Com : ”The cat was astray when it was found by a member of the public. The cat has a microchip, and when an animal that is astray is found, a card is left in a visible spot for the owner to pick up. The owner has 70 days to claim the animal. If nobody comes forward when the cat has recovered from surgery, a new home will be found for the cat”.

A stray cat which miraculously survived after being impaled on two mental fence posts in Cricklewood still has no owner.

The ginger and white cat strangely jumped onto the 8ft tall railings in Flowers Close on Friday at 3.50am, and was incredibly fortunate to have escaped fatality due to injury on all his vital organs. The discovery of the cat was purely random

Four days after the cat was found, it remains without an owner, but is recuperating well at an animal hospital in London.

Nicole Broster, deputy chief inspector at animal charity, said: “In all my years with the RSPCA I have never seen anything like it. This poor cat literally had two metal posts protruding through his body.

“It’s an absolute miracle that this cat is alive, and even better, it’s looking like he won’t even have to have the damaged leg amputated. In fact, he is doing so well he’s already up on his feet and walking which is astounding, I can’t quite believe how lucky he is.”

She added: “The fire service was absolutely fantastic and I cannot thank them enough.

“Not only did they cut the railings, they also transported the cat to the nearest vets in Hendon as the railings wouldn’t fit in my vehicle.”

The RSPCA is appealing for any information as to how the cat got impaled as no cause is known.
