A man shot and. Killed his friend underwater by mistake, thinking he was a large fish.
The Russian villager had invited his friend from Moscow to go fishing underwater. Special equipment including spar gun for killing fish was taken under water, until disaster Struck when the villager mistook his 27-year-old friend underwater for a catfish, and shot him dead.
The victim died instantly of the injuries at the scene. The tragedy of this event is so shocking, it beggars belief that such mishap could actually happen in the absence of foul play. How a person would go underwater with a gun and his guest and end up killing the guest accidentally thinking he was fish is unreal. If the story is genuinely true, it deserves a book. Ibis reminiscent of the story told by Oscar Pistorious, told police he thought his girlfriend was an intruder after he had fired four shots and killed her.
Fancy being invited swimming or fishing by a friend, only to return as a corps. It’s terrible! The dead man’s family must be forgiven for suspecting foul play, because it is such a strange way to die, and on the face of it, looks suspect
Genuine errors like this that lead to fatalities are possible, but rare and should be dealt with sympathetically if true. Currently, no charges have been brought against the killer, but an investigation has been launched. It just appears so unlikely for a man to kill his friend under water because he thought he was a fish. The dead man’s family will predictably in the uproar over the death, especially with the reason given sounding so fishy. Apparently, it was night time, so this made it very difficult for the fisherman to see what he was shooting. Presumably, the hopes is that the 27-year old’s family and friends, will forgive the killer for making an honest though deadly mistake, right?
We can all imagine how we would respond to that kind of news. My instinct would be to believe that the killer had a secret grudge against his friend and took the brave, risky, and callous opportunity to eliminate his friend whilst he could under water. The logical expectation would be for the presumed innocent killer to have first established the whereabouts of his friend before firing under water recklessly when he knew his friend was present. Besides, I fail to understand why anyone would want to swim in the same ponds as fish hunted by fishermen. It just doesn’t make sense and there is something very fishy about this story.
A statement issued by the press service of the local investigation said ”when underwater the local resident shot at the Moscow resident thinking that it was a fish. The victim died from the injuries he received at the scene”. Neither the name o the killer nor the victim was released by the press there, and they said they will notify us when the are ready to do so.
