Former Police Officers Charged For False Imprisonment And Rape

By David Young-

A former Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) officer has been jailed for false imprisonment after he restrained his housemate with tape before cutting her free with a knife, injuring her in the process.

Sam Grigg appeared at Kingston Crown Court on Friday (February 10), where he was sentenced to four years’ imprisonment with an extended licence period of two years once he is released.

Thirty-six-year-old Grigg, who was formerly attached to the South West Basic Command Unit, had pleaded guilty to false imprisonment and assault at the same court on January 5.

Commander Jon Savell, responsible for the MPS’s professional standards team, said: “This was a terrifying ordeal for the woman.

“Grigg’s behaviour was appalling and I know it will cause concern among members of the public. He’s let down the Met and his colleagues who are committed to protecting Londoners.

“We took immediate action to suspend Grigg from duty when his offending came to light and dismissed at the earliest opportunity.

“We are determined to have a Met that the public can trust, with officers that people feel confident to approach. When someone fails to meet these standards, we will take action to remove them from our organisation.”

The court heard how on December 2, 2022, when Grigg was off-duty, he used tape to unlawfully restrain his housemate against her will in an address they shared in Twickenham.

Having left her restrained for a period of time, he then cut her free using a knife, cutting her in the process.

The woman suffered minor injuries and did not require hospital treatment, said the MPS.

The incident was reported to police on December 6 and Grigg was arrested the same day.

He was charged and suspended on December 8 and, following his conviction, was dismissed without notice on January 30.

In a separate development, former police Constable Jordan Pascal, of the MPS’s Taskforce, was charged by Essex Police on Thursday, February 2, with the rape of a woman in 2009.

The shamed officer joined the MPS in June 2012 and has been suspended from duty, the force aid.

PC Pascal is due to appear at Southend Magistrates’ Court on Monday, March 13.

Chief Superintendent Claire Smart, who leads the MPS’s Taskforce Command, said: “PC Pascal has been suspended and criminal proceedings will now follow.

“While I recognise the inevitable strength of public feeling, is important that nothing is said that will put those proceedings at risk.”

The Metropolitan Police has declined to disclose the photographs of both officers on the grounds of  professional discretion.

The Met is yet to fully justify why police officers charged with atrocious criminal offences like rape are not visually identified, while celebrities are exposed at the pint of a criminal charge

Looks like one rule for one, and a separate rule for another.

London Mayor, Sadiq Khan is to address why this anomaly occurs, as the Eye Of Media.Com has asked his office to  reconcile the seeming conflict of interest
