Donald Trump’s attack of the federal judge presiding over a law suit against a defunct University of his could be a political suicide
Presumptive nominee, Donald Trump, attacked the federal judge presiding over a lawsuit lodged against the Trump University. The controversial presidential aspirant launched a scathing attack against U.S. District Judge Gonzalo Curiel, referring to him as “very hostile”. Plaintiffs in the case have accused Trump of defrauding students through the now-defunct for-profit school. The case is scheduled to go to trial in San Diego federal court on Nov. 28, according to the Wall Street journal. Trump referred to the man as a Trump hater, stating:
“I have a judge who is a hater of Donald Trump, a hater. He’s a hater. His name is Gonzalo Curiel,” Trump said during Friday’s rally, insisting “he is not doing the right thing. And I figure, what the hell? Why not talk about it for two minutes?”
It was the second time this week that Trump railed against a political or judicial rival on their home turf. At a rally in Albuquerque on Tuesday, Trump criticized New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez, the chairwoman of the Republican Governors Association and the country’s first Hispanic female governor, the New York Times reported. Martinez has been critical of Trump in the past and has not endorsed him.
Trump, who is no stranger to controversy was only recently on the receiving end of a mass protest against his candidacy, in which 35 people were arrested. Several people had taken to the streets to voice their objections to his vocal opposition to immigrants, prompting the intervention of police. The ironic thing about Trump’s stance is that he himself came to America as an immigrant; this fact exacerbated by the many immigrants in America who will staunchly oppose his election goals to the White House. Trump has already defied odds in coming this far, but will be a walking miracle if he eventually occupies the White House with the pool of ill feeling gathering against him. Never has an aspirant for the White House come out guns blazing in the unconstrained manner as Trump, shooting from the heaps without discretion and taking the electorate for granted without concern for the sort of repercussions that could abort his political ambitions and kill his chances completely.
Trump’s attack of the federal judge presiding over the suit against the Trump University, could single handedly crash his dreams of getting into power, unless the judge finds nothing substantial against him in the case, to return him to this intriguing elections in which the world waits to see if Donald Trump will pull off what will go down in history as the most unlikely accomplishment in American politics.
