Hundreds of young performers are preparing to take over the Tricycle for this year’s paradise season.
This includes young migrants from the theatre’s ‘Minding the gap’ project coming together at the playhouse in Kilburn High Road for a fortnight of screenings, original performances and creative class from March 13.
This year, the theater will offer its first ‘ticket to paradise’- a ticket that allows unlimited access to every event during the takeover. The third annual ‘takeover’ season will feature more than fifty events, many of which will be based on themes and characters from Lewis Caroll’s Alice in Wonderland staged by 18 y/o recently arrived migrants from secondary schools in Brent who attend weekly drama sessions to boost their confidence and English language skills. The event will be a boost to the confidence of the youngsters, who have high career hopes, and sacrifice a lot in their dedication to rehearsals for the man shows in which they perform all year round.
Theatrical performing requires great attention to the details of individual roles and an ability to excellently personify the role being played in such a way that connects to the audience. The fortnight of screening will draw a wide audience of people from many parts of London, all converging at the popular theater to be entertained by what is expected to be a outstanding display of theatrical brilliance. An annual event with a flavor of both originality and committed practice, it is predicted to be one of the most entertaining and fulfilling events that happen in any community in the year.
