Deontay Wilder will rule and unify the heavyweight division in 2017, according to the confident American heavyweight king.
WBC heavyweight champion, Deontay Wilder, says the heavyweight division is in a big mess and in need of one unified champion that can unify heavyweight boxing. The unbeaten Alabama heavyweight boxer told the eye of media.com that the boxing ring is a lonely jungle in need of a king to unify it. Wilder was speaking following the announcement today that his British counterpart, Anthony Joshua will face the American’s former foe, the 6 ft 7 inch unbeaten WBC heavyweight champion told the eye of media.com that the split of the heavyweight belts was a mess, but will give other heavyweight prospects and the various organisations an opportunity to prove themselves, make money and ”keep the tables turning”.
Interesting
The engaging American nicknamed ‘ the brown bomber’, told the eye of media.com that the recent outlet for the proliferation of the heavyweight title belts was apart from being a mess, also ”very interesting” ”The whole thing is a big mess but also interesting. It keeps the table turning and will give the other fighters an opportunity to be seen and prove themselves. They get a chance to make money but sooner or letter the belts will be unified. There is gonna be only one man’s face. I am gonna fight all mandatories. I want nothing but to be elite”.
Wilder To Unify Belts
”The boxing ring is a jungle, and I am going to be the king of the jungle. You need only one king in the jungle, one gladiator. I don’t like so many titles. It should be one man, one champion, one face. I am the man to unify the heavyweight division in 2017”, the enthusiastic Alabama celebrity enthused. Speaking about Anthony Joshua’s next fight against Eric Molina, Deontay Wilder explained Molina is a tough guy who will come to win. ”Fighting for a world title brings the best out a fighter, Deontay Wilder said. When Molina fought me it brought the best out of him. He has heart and when a fighter has heart in the ring, it will be tough. That fighter wants the belts and is ready to die in the ring to get it”. ”People may think Molina has no chance but that is just opinions. He has a good chance, it all depends on what happens on the night. When Buster Douglas beat Mike Tyson, nobody thought he would win but that was just opinions. Boxing experts can get it wrong, opinions don’t state a fact, if it did, we wouldn’t need a fight to show the fact”.
Wilder’s Hand Surgery
Deontay Wilder has recently returned to training following surgery to his hands but is not hitting with the hand yet. He expects to return to the ring around the spring period and says he will be ready for anybody then. Russian fighter, Alexander Povetkin is the mandatory challenger to Wilder’s WBC belt but is penciled in for a fight against Birmane Stevens, who Wilder beat to capture the WBC belt. ”The jury is out on Povetkin, he said, but I am going to be the unified champion in the end. It will be predator against prey when I am in there. I am ready, I am ready, I am ready”. Wilder’s burgeoning aspiration to dominate the heavyweight division is tempered by his philosophy that all good fighters deserve a chance. He talks of Johannas Daupuppas becoming an improved fighter after taking Wilder 11 rounds. Daupappas was my toughest opponent, he took me 11 rounds and went on to become the WBC inter-continental champion, Wilder said. Speculating on an interesting year in 2017 for boxing, Deontay Wilder believes 2017 is the year the heavyweight division will spring into life. David Haye is currently slated to take on the winner of Joseph Parker and Andy Ruiz, raising the potential of a spectacular showdown between Haye and Australian Parker around spring next year. However, Wilder has no doubt he will be the unified champion at the end of it, and relishes the opportunity for the other tough heavyweight unknowns to showcase their ability so that when he eventually unifies the division, he will be seen as the true king of the jungle.
