The son-in- law of Donald Trump is being investigated over allegations that he tried to set up a secret direct line to Vladimir Putin.
36 year old Jared Krushner who is the husband to Trump’s daughter, Ivanka, is accused of attempting to create a back channel to Putin when he met Seegey Gorkov in December .
According to the allegation, Mr Krushner and the and the Russian ambassador to America discussed setting up a secure private line of communication with Moscow by using Russian facilities that bypassed the U.S government .
The New York Times reported that the FBI and congressional investigators are probing what was said during Mr. Krushners 30 minute meeting with Mr. Gorkov . It is suspected that Trump officials were looking as t the possibility of lifting sanctions against Russia over the conflict in Ukraine and annexation in Crimea.
SANCTIONS
Trump’s administration is considering lifting sanctions against Russia , sparking suspicion that the U.S president is aligning itself with Putin’s notorious regime, and may have done so before the elections. Trump’s son -in- law is the president’s mist trusted adviser and would have the president’s best interest at heart.
CHARGE
However, whether Trunks son- in- law is guilty of the charge accused also has to be proved. If it is , it will have wide-reaching ramifications for the president. The ongoing investigation into the U.S president ‘ s potential link with the Kremlin is an ongoing one which has not produced anything concrete enough to implicate the president of his representatives.
Critics believe the net is closing in, but President Trump is still in the throne and hasn’t yet shown any signs of breaking down.

Trump’s administration has been under fire since the president came into office and has called investigations into his operations by both the FBI and the press a ” witch hunt ” .Official polls suggest Trump’s popularity in America has dropped dramatically since he came into office . This hasn’t yet threatened his leadership but some believe it is a matter of time before things get too hot for the White House.
