Shameful: Crime Officer Facing Charges For Viewing Indecent Images Of Children

By Lucy Caulkett-

A National Crime Agency (NCA) officer is facing serious criminal charges after allegedly viewing indecent images of children on his work computer. Adam Taylor, 40, is accused of accessing over 700 illegal images over a decade, spanning from 2012 to 2022.

Prosecutor Andrew Pellington told Westminster Magistrates Court that Taylor, while serving as an officer at the NCA, potentially used his work computer to view these images. The NCA, often referred to as “Britain’s FBI,” is a key institution in combating serious and organized crime.

Taylor appeared in court on Wednesday to face the charges for the first time. He is accused of two counts of misconduct in a public office, covering the period from March 2019 to April 2022, during his tenure at the NCA.

The charges specify that Taylor “willfully and without reasonable excuse or justification misconducted yourself in a way which amounted to an abuse of the public’s trust in the office holder by making indecent images of children on a work device.”

In addition to the misconduct charges, Taylor faces three further charges related to the taking of indecent photographs or pseudo-photographs of children. He is also accused of possessing extreme pornographic images involving animals. The court was informed that the images of children include 221 classified in the most severe category of seriousness.

Taylor, residing at Beechfield Walk in Waltham Abbey, appeared before District Judge Michael Snow for a preliminary hearing. He has been released on unconditional bail and is scheduled to appear at Southwark Crown Court on June 12.

The allegations against Taylor are particularly concerning given his role at the NCA, an organization entrusted with upholding the law and protecting the public from serious crimes.
