Royal fans have spoken out against the Dutchess Of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, for allegedly disrespecting Meghan Markle by attempting to upstage the Dutchess Of Sussex at the christening of their new baby boy, Archie.
After the couple released two official photos with one featuring a number of family members, including the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, an accessory spotted in the image has been used to discredit Middleton, wife of Prince William, who is brother to Markle’s husband, Prince Harry.
Middleton’s decision to pay tribute to her late mother-in-law with the jewellery, formerly belonging to the late Princess Diana’s Collingwood Pearl Earrings for the occasion has sparked wide criticism on social media.
These jewellery worn by Diana wore to Prince Harry’s christening in 1984, has suddenly taken on the symbol of a competitive spirit by Kate Middleton, stirring emotions of fans who believe the move to have been borne out of ill motive. Meghan, who is often on the receiving end of criticism was this time being strongly defended by members of the public who took objection to Middleton’s decision to wear the ring to the christening. Middleton’s representatives declined to comment on the reaction.
Accused Of Upstage Attempt: Kate Middleton
WHY
One social media user commented on Twitter, saying: “I think Kate wanted to upstage Meghan. With all the earrings at Kate’s disposal, why did she wear the ones that Diana wore during Harry’s christening? Personally I would have given Meghan the earrings.”
Another commented: “Attention seeking at a Sussex Family event. Meghan would be roasted for this type of tacky move. Evoking Diana’s special moment with Harry at his son’s christening? This simply wasn’t her role.”
A third posted: “In all honesty I think Kate was a tad bit disrespectful and spiteful.
“She didn’t have to come there dressed the way she was and sporting Princess Diana’s earrings. I believe she did that intentionally to upstage Meghan’s special moment”.
The criticism could potentially further tensions between the pair, especially if neither of the two comes out publicly to state the accusations to be false. There is no evidence of what Middleton’s true motives were, but perceptions can sometimes go down as reality even when not necessarily accurate.
