Rogue landlords are many, and should continue to be exposed when caught out.
All over the country, there are landlords who who rent out below standards properties, and continue without concern because they believe they can get away with it.
Today, a Leyton landlord- Carol Dawkins, has been prosecuted in East London for failing to get a license for her properties and faces a fine of £1,517. She was prosecuted after she refused to respond to warning letters, showing how irresponsible some people can be. Her detection follows a licensing scheme started by Waltham Forest last year to catch rogue landlords.
Landlords provide a useful service to tenants, but many exploit tenants by putting them in sub standard properties and even overcharging tenants for rent by presenting them with small rooms hardly worthy of the price they pay. London rooms and flats are particularly expensive, being the major City of the country. However, the main problem is not just the high costs of properties, but the rip off on tenants by rogue landlords.
