Television presenter, Piers Morgan, has been under fire today for claiming Mohammad Ali was said more racist things than Donald Trump. He was widely criticized for his comments by commentators and social media users for the insensitive comments.
He was particularly criticized by model and television presenter, Chris Teigen, who accused Morgan of being racist for defending Republican presidential candidate against criticism from those who called Trump a hypocrite for mourning Ali’s death, given his plans to ban all Muslims from America if he became president.
Morgan had said on Sunday that it was a fact that Ali said far more inflammation and racist things about white people than Donald Trump ever said about Muslims.
Piers Morgan, a former daily mirror editor, then produced a you tube video in which Ali was promoting racial segregation in what can certainly be viewed as the negative side to the greatest in his youth.
However, put into context, Ali grew up in a period of racial tension in America and harbored the distorted view that racial integration was wrong. But this was a symptom of the environment he was raised, and it is simply not right or sensitive for Morgan to have said that now, with Alis death so fresh.
