Tyson Fury has been battling depression for years, despite the news just coming out, his Uncle Peter Fury revealed.
Peter Fury, an ex-jail bird, told Sky sports that his nephew’s battle with depression has been going on ‘‘for quite a few years”, and winning the world title added to that pressure . ”I think with the allegations as well, that completely tipped him over the edge”
”He loves boxing, it’s his life, and I don’t see why there can’t be a recovery. But I don’t see a recovery if anybody can help, it’s not just a doctor’s thing or a family thing. He needs boxing and the people around him to respect him”, he said.
BAN
Tyson Fury faces the prospect of a ban for cocaine in his system, as well as the banned substance, nandrolone, so when his uncle refers to these as ”allegations” the appearance of one hiding from the truth becomes somewhat glaring.
CRITICISM
A world champion who cannot handle criticism whilst behaving in a manner that attracts criticism is not enough of a man. That’s simply said.
However, both his Uncle Peter Fury and his dad, John Fury, feel their giant world beater has not been given the support and respect he deserves.
Fury told Sky sports news HQ : ”it just highlights the despair and the depths he has gone to, to contemplate such a low life result as turning to that, because we all know what that does. It doesn’t help any human being at all, it puts you in a worse state”, he stated.
NOBODY
” So, basically to have nobody to turn to, nobody to discuss his feelings with, obviously it looks like he has turned to that. So obviously, this is a sad, sad situation, and I can only put it to that.
However, why Fury would have nobody to turn to is another question. The first point of call for advice and support should have been his family. As a world champion with millions in the bank, moral support should not be hard to get.
Any boxer or celebrity who expects overwhelming support is living on another planet. They are not living in the real world.
Boxing is a sport with different opinions, and Tyson Fury will have to have been more than a moron not to know that he is a controversial character who cannot be loved by everyone.
He won the heavyweight championship and should have been content with that. He became a millionaire from that but still wanted the world to dance around him whilst he acts the clown and pulls out of fights at world championship levels.
INABILITY
Fury did well to win the heavyweight belts, but his failure has been in his inability to keep the belts. Defending the belts is the harder part of being a world champion, and Fury has failed without even a punch was thrown.
With his money, he should have been able to get all the support he needed. Fury’ s sad mental state is a pity, but respect cannot be given free.
Respect is earned. He gets respect for winning the titles from a man unbeaten for 11 years but looses respect for being incapable of coping mentally with the psychological demands of the sport.
