OUTSTANDING ONE DIRECTION GROUP SPLIT FOR ONE YEAR TO CHANGE DIRECTIONS

BY LUCY CAULKETT

The marvelous award winning ‘one direction’ band are set to break up next March after the release of their 5th album, it has been revealed. The teen heart throbs, Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louise Tomlison and Niall Horan, have mutually agreed to part company in order to concentrate on sol projects they have, according to a report in The Sun Newspaper. They aim to first complete their promotional commitments with their record label in February, then will pursue their individual ambitions, after which they intend to regroup for collective impact.

One direction- a product of the 2010 x factor series- remain one of the few groups out of X factor to make it into the big time. The group have a final show penciled in for the last day of October at the Motorpoint arena in Sheffield. Fans of the sensational group received a hard knock last month when 22 year old Zayne Malik left the group to go solo last March, leading many to speculate whether the group were becoming disunited. However, the ambitions or aspirations of one member of a group can change and this does not necessarily have to reflect negatively on the group.

However, the announcement that every member of this group suddenly have projects of their own they wish to pursue does seem a bit contrived, and makes me wonder if there might be some other private reason the group have decided to take this break. It may be that a few members of the group have ambitious project they wish to explore on their own or with individuals outside the group, but don’t wish to isolate those members who feel left out from the wider plans of the others. Following the break away of Malik, the last thing they need is any perception the group is disintegrating since this could potentially harm their prospect of success and appeal even as solo artists or in their solo projects.Curiously, the group have not released anything official with regards the solo projects they wish to pursue individually, supposedly it is early days to reveal that? Time will tell if there is more to this temporary parting of ways, in the meantime we can only hope it will turn out all good for them.

A more plausible explanation for the split up would have been the sheer hectic schedule and engagements they have had to commit to in the past few years.
A hardworking group, they have produced 4 albums in the last 5 years, comprising of 79 songs including singles. They are also credited with over 300 gigs in the same period, making a lot of money in the process. The captivating band made £72m for their Take me home Tour in 2013, and were listed 4th on Forbe’s rich list of this year’s top 100 with a whopping £83m behind them! Put simply, they are minted!

This group provide evidence that any individual or group can achieve the heights of success if they commit their focus and talents in the right direction for them. Fans have generally reacted with disappointment at the news on social media platforms, but we need to wait and see the direction this amazing group wish to take with their projects. It may just move them to another direction of higher levels when they do return.
