An official plane used by Donald Trump in the past is due to fly to Scotland on the day of his inauguration, it has been revealed.
The news adds to speculation that the U.S president plans to skip the inauguration of Joe Biden, the first for any American president in history after an electoral defeat. Losing to ”sleepy” Joe was never an outcome Trump bargained for , nor was one he was prepared to accept.
The White House has declined to say whether Trump would attend Biden’s inauguration on 20 January.
Biden defeated Trump in the most participated elections in U.S history by 306 electoral votes to 270- the same difference with which Trump himself had defeated Hilary Clinton in 2016. Trump at the time called it a landslide victory.
Biden also won the popular vote by 81,281,888 votes to 74,223,251 votes, the presidential candidates pulling in the highest votes ever in a U.S election by both the incumbent president and the challenger. Ever since his election defeat, the U.S president has actively sought to reverse the outcome of the elections, alleging voter suppression and fraud on a large scale.
Over 60 legal attempts to overturn the elections have failed, with multiple courts rejecting cases presented to indicate fraud.
On Monday, U.S Vice-President Mike Pence welcomed an effort by a group of senators to refuse to certify Joe Biden’s presidential election win.
The group led by Ted Cruz, are calling for a 10-day delay to audit unsubstantiated allegations of election fraud.
The Scottish Sunday Post reported that Prestwick airport has been told to expect the arrival of a US military Boeing 757 aircraft, that is occasionally used by Trump, on January 19 – the day before his Democratic rival takes charge at the White House.
Speculation about Trump’s plans for the day of Biden’s inauguration was sparked by the activity of U.S Army aircraft, which were based at Prestwick airport for a week and said to be carrying out 3D reconnaissance of the president’s Turnberry resort.
Many versions of that scenario have the outgoing president flying to his private club in Florida, Mar-a-Lago. But Scotland’s Sunday Post has reported that Prestwick airport, near Trump’s Turnberry golf course resort, has been told to expect a US military Boeing 757 that has occasionally been used by Trump, on 19 January.
