The Metropolitan police have contacted a group of Covid-19 rule breakers, after angry neighbours called cops and the council to take tougher action over Covid-19 rule-breakers who have been causing them misery.
It follows groups of up to 10 men are meeting in Whitwell Road, Plaistow, playing loud music, drinking alcohol, peeing in the street, littering and intimidating those who complain.
Officers have written to the registered owners of cars linked to the problem and spoken to shopkeepers in the area who sell alcohol.
The Met sis working with the council to ensure that only licensed shops are selling alcohol, and vowed to investigate any shops are contributing to this behaviour.
“Residents can be assured we are taking action,” Insp Gillespie said.
Some youths in the area told The Eye Of Media.Com that they believed the pandemic was being blown out of proportion and black people were being unfairly targeted and presented as a contagious group of people without evidence.
BAME people are statistically reported to be more likely to contract the virus and die, but have never been said to be spreaders of the virus.
However, black youths in the Plaistow area told this publication that they believed the pandemic had been blown out of proportion in a way that stigmatizes black people.
One teenager of 19 years of age who gave his name as Sparky(clearly a nick name) said: ”school children have been allowed back in class and their parents drive them to school. Already you have lots of people congregating, so what’s the problem? What are you going to say now, that black people are increasing the risk of infections, so let’s lockdown for longer? Or they are not taking the vaccine in enough numbers, but they are partying?”
Another 21 year old young man called Jason said: ” I think we are fed up of being locked in our homes and being told we are more likely to die of Covid-19, when most of don’t know anyone directly who have died of it. I think we need to be given some breathing space”.
Ok, we have all heard of stories of people who know someone that have died from Covid-19 , but most of them had other health issues, and I don’t have any friends who have caught it, let alone died of it, and I have lots of black friends.
People in different places are mixing, drive around and look around. Most people are not, but there are a few here and there. They have had enough, All of a sudden we have a few press here trying to make a story of it”.
Now, you say police are going to write to the car owners whose cars were parked up, and try and fine them. This is all about money at the end of the day, isn’t it? I bet you those snitches who called the media and called police fear we are spreading the virus.
When Jason was politely asked for a photograph of him to give more visual to the story, he replied; ”are you mad, or you working with the fed. I’ve given you my views, I think its best you enjoy the rest of your day and not risk ruining it now”.
A council spokesperson said: “We welcome feedback from our residents and we will work with the police to commit additional resources to tackle the issues that have been raised. Safety remains an absolute priority.”
Under current lockdown restrictions, forbid people in the UK from going outside their homes except for reasons allowed by law, including going out to get food, visiting people in a support bubble or picking up medication.
Tracey Donovan said: “They’ve got no respect for anyone. We have continuously phoned the police. Councillors have been involved. But nothing ever happens.
“It’s a pandemic. They’re not supposed to be outside in groups. They’re not wearing masks. Nothing ever gets done.”
