Obama won the most admired man in America for the 9th time, according to a gallop poll released on Wednesday.
President-elect Donald Trump came second in the poll. Trump responded with a tweet that signalled sensitivity, once again highlighting a deep -rooted rift between the pair. The rift seemed to deepen as President-elect Trump tweeted words to the effect that the smooth transition of power was not going so smoothly.
The sitting president has traditionally won the award of the most admired man voted in the gallop poll. Former president, Bill Clinton also won the award during his tenure as president.
Obama has always successfully giving off the image dignified, astute leader, articulate and fluent in his delivery. Yet another poll rates Obama not so favourably when it comes to the delivery of office.
Trump’s main admiration comes from the fact he won the presidency against all odds and is expected to become the most powerful man in the world. Being a billionaire is an extra source of attraction, despite the negative elements that have so far accompanied his rise to power in terms of criticism.
President Obama and president-elect Trump couldn’t be any more distant when it comes to their political persuasions and philosophies.
Obama has recently promised to impose sanctions on Russia for alleged cyber attacks, but President -elect Trump has generally spoken charitably about Putin, suggesting an improved relationship between America and Russia that worry many in the current establishment.
Hillary Clinton was voted the most admired woman in the world for the 21st time, showing that despite her failure in the last presidential elections, she is still a big shot in the game as far as the perception held of her by Americans.
