New Year’s resolutions for 2017 are important because they allow an individual to plan their year the way they want it to go.
Many people consider it pointless making a conscious decision to change something for the better in preparation for a new year.
They claim they should not have to change but should be accepted for who they are. The truth is that individuals should be honest with themselves and change weakness to become stronger in their deeds and in their purpose.
Change may require dropping a habit, developing a positive habit, having positive people around you and making the future work out. Developing a healthy lifestyle is a goal many can achieve easily if they appreciate the benefits of adjustments. No change comes without a sacrifice.
Deciding to be calmer, more patient or thorough is a positive goal for those lacking in that area. Being on time is a weakness many have. The ability to work to schedule is an important quality to have or develop. It shows an organised mind, and the ability to predict the consequences of each action that can affect a future arrangement.
Poor time-keepers generally spend too much time doing one thing or the other, including sleeping too much. Sleeping too little is also bad and can have knock -on effects that contribute to lateness. This can be because too little sleep can subsequently cause too much sleep as a form of compensation for previous bad habits.
Cutting down or giving up smoking, and drinking more responsibly are worthy goals to have for smokers and excessive drinkers. Most smokers are resigned to the idea of never giving up, or postponing the idea. However, there are a growing number of smokers who want to give up, but struggle.
Setting a target of a few days at a time is one way to start, though some have giving up at once. Challenging yourself to achieve something different is always worth a pat on the back, especially if you achieve it. It could be the resolution to work harder and more consistently in your business or to achieve our goals academically or in your chosen field. Going for the challenge is worth the try.
