Murdered Beautiful Sophia Khan’s Beg For Help From Partner

By Lucy Caulkett-

The disturbing trial of Actual Mustafa reached a sad and disturbing point in Derby Crown Court today.

Mustafa is accused of killing his”confident, clever and intelligent” partner in a brutal manner after she phoned her family asking for help at their Derby home, jurors were told.

Beautiful 37-year-old Sobia Khan was found dead at their home in Pear Tree Crescent, Normanton. He denies the charge. The trial heard she had been previously been married for around seven years. Mr Auty said the couple separated and she moved back into the family home in Bradford. He said: “After her marriage had failed, as far as you could tell, was she optimistic about finding someone in the future?”

Today,  Miss Khan’s eldest brother, Javed Khan, gave evidence to the carefully attentive court.   Mustafa allegedly “lured” his partner to Derby from Bradford and subjected her to domestic violence “on a savage scale”, the prosecution claims. Day three of the trial heard heartbreaking details of how Miss Khan phoned her family to say “please help me” shortly before her death.

Prosecutor Michael Auty QC  told the court by Mr Auty as “controlling” in his opening case, and on Monday ” added further details of the sad story by telling jurors that the day after Sohbia left Bradford for Derby, all her Facebook, WhatsApp and Snapchat (accounts) were deactivated.”

.

“The day after Sohbia left Bradford for Derby, all her Facebook, WhatsApp and Snapchat (accounts) were deactivated,”  he said. This was contrary to her usual nature as her brother testified that she very much liked social media.

When asked whether his sister liked social media, Mr Khan told the court: “Very much so.” This was contrary to her nature of liking social media. The social media deactivation served as confirmation that somebody had deliberately decided to eliminate her social media status online. Somebody controlling,, otherwise, they would have left things as they were.

Mr Khan told the court he had never seen his sister wear a burka (a garment that covers the body and face) or niqab (a garment that covers the face).

He added: “She very much did know her own mind. She was the only one who could answer me back.” The testimony by her brother that he never saw his sister wear a burka suggests that her partner or family may have been very upset about it, as is known among many controlling Muslim men. The trial continues.
