Married Benefits Cheat Caught Through Facebook

Married Benefits Cheat Caught Through Facebook

By. Eric King-

A benefits cheat we caught through Facebook after posting pictures of her wedding online.

25-year-old Chanice Bowen from South Wales claimed to be a penniless single mom but was caught by benefits officials who discovered a slide show of her white wedding with the caption: ‘best years of my life, love my husband’.

Bowen never thought she would be caught from that, showing her ignorance of the capacitors of the system. The cheat had claimed to have separated from Lee Mapstone, but in fact had married him since October 2013, jurors at Cardiff crown court heard.

Raking in nearly £22,000 between 2013 and 2015 in income support, council tax and housing benefit, she should have looked for a job instead of continuing her foolish fraud.

She pleaded to three counts of dishonesty and failing to disclose information. Chanice Bowen was remanded in custody where she will await her sentencing.
