Homelessness in Wycombe is being effectively addressed following a brilliant partnership that has seen every single person who may have been sleeping on the street in Wycombe provided with a warm, safe bed for the first time this winter.
The Eye Of Media.Com heard that every homeless person in Wycombe has been provided with accommodation, making it an incredible outcome that demonstrates the power of the human spirit when determination meets with organisation.
The partner organisations Wycombe District Council (WDC), Wycombe Homeless Connection(WHC), Wycombe Rent Deposit Guarantee Scheme and Connection Support have all merged forces to make sure a range of accommodation is available to those local people who otherwise would be sleeping out this winter.
The Wycombe District Council Council ( WDC) successfully claimed £60,000 from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG), which was added to £17,000 by the Wycombe Homeless Connection( WHC,) and from MHCLG, and other grant applications, as well as donations from residents.
A majority of homeless on the streets now have roofs over their heads according to Cllr Cabinet member for Housing at WDC, Julia Langley. She told The Eye Of Media.Com:
”Accommodation has been provided for everyone who needs it in Wycombe, and we are playing our role in showing that homelessness can be beaten,“It has taken a lot of work and coordinated effort but now we can say that no one needs to sleep rough in winter in Wycombe.
“There will be people who may be resistant to accepting any help, for a variety of reasons. However, the option is available for them to have a roof over their head if they wish, particularly in very cold weather. The group are hoping for further funding to keep up the good work for the winter.
