A Lancashire indie quartet called ”The Lottery Winners”, will play at the Pennines to play Fibbers in York tonight on their 16-date World Tour Of The UK, only weeks after music mogul Seymour Stein signed them to a major recording deal.
Born in Salford ,The Lottery Winners group were raised on romance, and can be found at the exact midpoint between the North West’s dual musical Meccas of Manchester and Liverpool.
The indie-pop quartet mix momentous and exquisite melodies with very insightful lyrics. Thomas Rylance is the lead and main song writer of the band, which has supported the likes of Jacqui and Abott & Paul Heaton, Catfish and The Bottlemen, The View, The Charlatans, The Enemy, Scouting For Girls, James Veck-Gilodi, The Futureheads and Jamie Cullum building up a loyal family of fans in the process
The bands first single ‘Elizabeth’ , had associations with her Majesty the Queen, and released to coincide with the Diamond Jubilee celebration Once described by Lauren Laverne as “Adorable”, Hooting and Howling ”.
Since the release of their debut single, the band have continued to produce excellent master pieces. Their new tracks have been accompanied with outstanding self-produced videos bound to make waves in the year ahead.
THOM RYLANCE
Formed in Leigh, Greater Manchester by Thom Rylance, Robert Lally, Katie Lloyd and Joe Singleton in their high-school years.
A band with a special name for their theme, their journey has included a transition from the North West scene to supporting The Wonder Stuff and playing the summer festival circuit.
“The Lottery Winners are currently the very best of UK rock and pop,” says The Wonder Stuff’s front man, Miles Hunt. “They have such a great sense of themselves, unlike anything I have seen and heard in contemporary music in a long, long while. They were the obvious choice to open for us on tour. I love’em!”
Lottery WinnersWere Best Friends
Two Lottery Winners have come together as a band. Best friends since Rylance was elected to show Lally around the new school he would be attending. Both friends shared a passion for music and are poised to both play guitar and sing. Neither of the pair knew anyone with a bass, however until a few seconds after their Bassist Wanted poster was placed on the noticeboard of Heybrook Music- the only guitar shop in Leigh’s.
Young 15 year old teenager, Katie Lloyd was there by chance at that specific time that day. With all acts for the day fully booked, a sudden call from drummer, Joe Singleton, received a phone call from Katie, his high-school best friend, insisting that he became a Lottery Winner. After declining many times, he finally agreed to take up the drum stool.
Then they were eventually signed to Sire/Warner Bros. “We can barely believe we’re actually doing a proper headline tour,” singer Thom Rylance told the eye of media.com. “Touring is the most exciting thing you could possibly do. The thing that makes us most happy is to play live, and we just can’t wait to get in our little red van and discover our wonderful country. We’ve been working hard on material for the past eight years, and we finally get to show it all off.”
I KNOW
The Lottery Winners’ song ‘I Know’ is earmarked to be the theme song for comedian Greg Davies’s new Channel 4 show Man Down, while another number, Elizabeth, is regularly played during half-time at Manchester United’s Old Trafford matches.
Other indie pop tunes are set to record by Coldplay and Morrissey producer Danton Supple, when they are launched on Valentine’s Day next year.
Pioneered by Seymour Stein, the American A&R talent spotter is responsible for the careers of Madonna, Talking Heads and The Ramones and the transatlantic impact of Echo And The Bunnymen and The Smiths.
It is expected to be a record-breaker and popular tune for 2017.
