Wladimir Klitschko has promised to remedy his mistake against Tyson Fury, when the pair meet on the new confirmed date of October 29, 2016, but talk is cheap and we shall see.
In a tweet, the former reigning world heavyweight champion said ” So the new date is finally fixed. ”I’ll remedy my mistake on October 29 in Manchester. See you there”
The new date was announced by Tyson Fury’s uncle and trainer, who said : “I’m delighted that we can finally get the fight back on and in Manchester. After hard discussions we can now focus on giving the fans what they deserve; another barn-burner of a fight. Team Fury will ensure Tyson is in the shape of his life to successfully retain his World Titles.”
Fury stunned the boxing world, when he became the first boxer to defeat Klitschko in 11 years, after winning his WBA, WBO and IBF belts by virtue of an unanimous decision in Dusseldorf on November 28th. He out boxed Klitschko in a masterfully tactful manner, but the fight was considered bring my most viewers.
As part of the contractual clause , Fury was forced to grant the former dominant heavyweight champion a rematch, which is why the pair are meeting again, this time in Manchester- the home town of the gypsy king. Fury seized all three eblts from Klitschko, but was eventually stripped of the IBF belt after he refused to defend it because of his contractual arrangement to meet Klitschko in an immediate rematch.
In truth, team Fury could probably have made more effort to convince the Klitschko camp that he should defend the IBF belt, as the contractual plan for an immediate rematch should have been deemed not practical or reasonable if the IBF body required him to defend the belt.
Popular Londoner, Anthony Joshua immediately picked up that belt which he has defended once since achieving it. A press conference is due in London. on the 12th of September to formally announce the rematch.
