17 Year Old School Boy Stabbed Metres Away From Barkingside Police Station

By James Simons-

A 17 year old boy has been hospitalized after being stabbed metres away from a police station.

The teenage boy was stabbed at Barkingside High Street, outside the Cancer Research near Horace Road junction at around 8.10am this morning, Wednesday- just metres away from Barkingside police station.

His injuries are none life threatening, but nevertheless highlight the prevalence of knife crime in London. The reason for the stabbing has not been established, as police continue to make inquiries.  More shocking is the very early hours of the morning in which the stabbing occurred, suggesting that his attacker was already up so early in the day and armed with a knife.

Barkingside was once a peaceful area, but has since become a hub for gangs and drug dealing, with rival groups emerging from different parts of London. No suggestion is being made that this stabbing was over drugs, but it is strange why it happened so early in the day and so close to a police station.

The attacker,  according to a writer from the Ilford, was riding a bike and fled the scene immediately after the attack. He has still not been caught, but investigations are ongoing.

Latest statistics indicate attacks resulting in over1,623 victims under the age of 25, including 866 teenagers and 12 fatalities.
Sadiq Khan- the newly elected Mayor of London announced  a £400,000 funding  projects to help  young offenders turn away from crime, as well as a City Hall Crime Knife summit to “help stop young people from making the choices that lead them into violence. That project is yet to fully materialize.
