JOSHUA SIGNS 3 YEAR PROMOTIONAL DEAL WITH MATCHROOM

BY ERIC KING

Heavyweight olympic gold medalist, Anthony Joshua, has signed a new 3 year promotional deal with Matchroom Boxing under the guidance of Eddie Hearn. Joshua fights Dillian White on December 12 at the 02 arena, and is favorite to continue his victorious path, but Whyte poses a real threat to the likeable gold medalist. The fight which will be shown on box office is a huge draw, and tickets have been sold out a long time ago.

Joshua has a perfect record of 14 wins from 14 fights-all KO’s, and Whyte has 16 wins from 16 fights with 13 KO’s on his resume. Both men have a strong grudge against each other which will make the fight that much more interesting. Eddie Hearn said:

“It’s an absolute honour to announce a new three-year exclusive promotional deal with Anthony Joshua.
“The first two years have been a great experience and I feel the journey has been faultless both in and out of the ring.
“Anthony’s profile has continued to grow and he has boxed in virtually every major city in the UK but more importantly those experiences coupled with tremendous dedication in the gym has seen him develop immensely as a fighter.

“Anthony has already become one of the hottest commodities in world sport and we are blessed with the responsibility of helping to guide Anthony Joshua to unifying the world heavyweight title.

Hearn has expressed an interest to match his man with Tyson Fury in 2016, after he beats Dillian Whyte, though public interest in such a fight will depend on how Fury does against Klitschko. If he is completely outclassed and knocked out, Fury will be no good for Joshua. Besides, it would be unwise to look past Whyte who is strong and powerful enough to cause an upset against Joshua, even though I doubt that would happen. You never can say, so Joshua’s team really should focus on preparations for Whyte who is intent of wrecking Joshua’s sailing ship and stealing the market.

However, if Joshua gets rid of Whyte, then the next 3 years would b interesting to see how exactly Joshua fares as he moves up the ranks of the sport. Joshua has no automatic ticket to dominating the division just yet, though he is sure looking the part.
