Londoners Are Sexually Unhealthy, according to new figures in a new report that show five times more people were diagnosed with syphilis in London last year than in any other region in England.
The report which was published on Wednesday by Public Health England, have announced that the number of cases of syphilis have more than doubled in the capital in the last five years. It has risen by 163 percent.
The report expresses concerns about “high-risk” practices such as “chemsex,” sex between men that occurs under the influence of drugs, dating apps, unprotected sex and people seeking HIV-positive partners. The report was damning against Gay men, who were said were disproportionately affected, despite accounting for just two per-cent of the total London population. The report states that gay men made up 90 percent of new diagnoses in 2015, or 2,406 cases, adding that the rise in diseases for heterosexual men and women rose only slightly.
According to the report, new infections in London accounted for 32.9 per 100,000 people -which the report said was five times higher than any other region in England, and three times higher than the national rate over all.
The infection was diagnosed in all London authorities, with the highest numbers in Lambeth, Southwark, Tower Hamlets and Westminster. The disease is being caused by reckless sexual activities between people too careless and negligent to think and do the wise thing.
CONDOMS
Many men and women recklessly engage in sexual activity despite not having any condoms around. This is ridiculously stupid in this day and age, especially in the absence of any sure way of certifying our partners. It means Such individuals clearly subscribe to the idea of sleeping with individuals who may be outrightly promiscuous. Many Gay men are very quick to engage in sexual encounters with other gay men without a care for protection. That culture in many gay circles should be addressed and corrected.
We live in a society that has equality of opportunities and treatment at the heart of its legal policies. That equitable banner of safety is not tantamount to the view that reckless activities observed in a protected group is not highlighted for special attention where the issue of sexual diseases are concerned. The message coming from the public Health report is that both Gay and heterosexual men recklessly overlook the importance of using protection when involved in sexual activity, with gay men having the worst statistics-probably because they are generally more care free about sex.
INFECTIOUS
Syphilis is highly contagious and can lead to heart problems, and death in worse cases. It begins as a small sore called chancre, and can develop into lethal disease that damages the brain eyes, joints, nervous system, and eventually shut the body down. It is easily hidden as it is painless o begin with, and can hide in the private organs, especially the rectum or vagina of a woman.
Regional director for PHE London, Yvonne Doyle said:
“Worsening sexual health remains one of the biggest public health concerns facing London and it is worrying to see such alarming rises in syphilis year-on-year,” the regional director for PHE London, Yvonne Doyle, said.
“Although diagnoses among heterosexuals in the capital are more stable they too continue to be higher than we would like.”
Londoners are highly sexed up because of the hustle and bustle of every day life- sex provides a convenient outlet to release stress and gratify the human mind and body. However, when we put aside common sense and sleep with others just because the attraction is mutual, foolishness sets in immediately. Common sense tells us that we can never fully vouch for the partner we are sexually involved with. That’s why protection should always be used as a precautionary measure.
EXCEPTION
Marriage is a cautious exception. The reason is that the decision to get married to someone holds a significant amount of mutual responsibility and trust which should ordinarily be allowed to exclude condoms. The problem that arises is the known fact that married men or women are not immune from the temptation to cheat. Many married men lie to other women and do not admit they are married, which should make the innocent partner in marriage to wonder how safe they are. Having a trusted and reliable partner is a gift to any who finds it, because the recklessness of indiscriminate sexual encounters in London is what has led to this worrying statistics.
Other boroughs should also beware of the way they engage sexually. Simply because statistics about other areas might be much lower does not imply they are not equally prone to the chances of contracting syphilis if careless. It only takes the one encounter with an infected person, and you will join the STD club. Sexuality Transmitted diseases can many times be cured, depending on the stage of detection and extent of the infection. However, it is better to be safe than sorry.
