Shameful Fuel Shortage That Caused Fatal Brazilian Plane Crash

By Tim Parsons-

The news that the Brazilian footballers plane that crashed in Colombia ran out of fuel is shameful.

A leaked audio recording revealed the pilot  repeatedly requesting permission to land due to a “total electric failure” and lack of fuel. Shortly before the end of the tape, the pilot  says he is flying at an altitude of 9,000ft (2,743m)

Brazil has begun three days of official mourning while thousands in Chapecoense’s home city of Chapeco have held a vigil. The disaster couldn’t have come at a worst time in the history of Brazillian football when they had just reached Brazil’s top division for the first time in 2014.
Just six of the 77 people on board the plane survived, 20 journalists were among the dead.
Investigators have  not officially announced any single cause for the crash, with an investigation expected to take months. It is quite shameful that such a tragedy could happen because of lack of fuel in a plane carrying footballers. No amount of apology can compensate for the level of carelessness that led to such unnecessary loss of life.  British investigators are assisting the investigation because the British aerospace 146 was manufactured in the U.K.
Innocent and talented lives have been lost, and someone or some organisation must be held responsible
Chapecoense were flying to the Colombian city of Medellin on Monday for one of their biggest matches ever, it is tragic that they never arrived there safely.
Four people due to travel were extremely lucky to miss the flight, they must be extremely grateful they missed it.
.
Earlier this month, the same plane safely flew Argentina’s national football team to a World Cup qualifier.
Brazilian first division football teams have generously offered to lend players to Chapecoense free of charge for the 2017 season, and also asked the league to protect the club from relegation for the next three years. Such a beautiful gesture is very touching.
