E.U court blocked deportation of the man believed to be the mastermind behind the deadly Istanbul airport terrorist attack, avoided deportation as a wanted man in Russia.
Ahmed Chataev is a Russian citizen of Chichen origin, who joined Islamic State in 2015 and now fights in Syria, according to reliable sources in Turkey.
Chataev has been wanted in Russia for terrorist related offences, but was granted asylum in Europe, where he fled to avoid extradition. He is believed to have joined Joined Islamic secessionist militants that fought against Russia in the second Chichen war between 1999 and 2000. He lost an arm fighting in that war.
On a wanted list in Russia since 2003, he received asylum in Austria after claiming he lost an arm due to torture in a Russian jail. Considering he also spent over a year in a Swedish prison, after rifles, explosives and ammunition were found in his car.
The E.U court cannot be blamed for believing Chateav’s lies, if they didn’t have evidence to the contrary. However, the eventual revelation that he really was a terrorist who would inflict calamity at an airport, is shocking.
Without adding to the E.U referendum tension inflicting the Conservative and Labour parts, this story calls for an abandonment of E.U court, or a modification of their laws.
Individuals known to have terrorist links should be kicked out of the country without opposition from E.U courts. This was one of the reasons Brexit supporters voted to leave the E.U.
The news on this site yesterday that Brexit will not actually be implemented is not an absolute. France and Spain have refused to accommodate proposals from Scotland for talks to potentially break away from Britain and join the E.U.
They want to deal with the U.K government on any negotiations, but only after Article 51 is invoked. Only if Scotland vote to break away in a referendum, will it be next to impossible for Parliament to invoke Article 51.Either way, Britain can’t have terrorist refugees in this country.
Whatever political stage of negotiations we find ourselves, the right to deport dangerous terrorists but not be denied to the British public.
