A young man shot dead at a property in west London was recently freed from jail for his part in the dismemberment of an accomplished jazz musician over an argument about money with drug dealers.
Janayo Lucima, 21,(pictured) died on Easter Monday after he was shot at an address in Comeragh Road, West Kensington, shortly before 10.20pm.
Trumpeter Mr Algar, 53, known as Blaise, suffered mental health issues and was killed at his home in Barnes which being used as a base to sell drugs.
His arms and legs were removed using a Rambo knife in a bathtub and then buried at a nearby nature reserve.
Mr Algar’s rotting head and torso were discovered by police at his address after he was reported missing by his elderly mother
Lucima was said to have bought bleach and J Cloths and helped run errands as other gang members cut up Mr Algar’s body in his own bathtub.
Prosecutor Crispin Aylett QC said the attack on Mr Algar was “of extraordinary viciousness beyond anger”. He told jurors it was “frenzied” and a “work of borderline psychopathic proportions”.
Mr Algar was described in court as a “good guy” who had a lot of interests and “did not have a harmful bone in his body”. He suffered from mental health problems and had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder.
His life spiralled down after he began using and dealing Class A drugs, and his home was taken over by other dealers in what is known as a “cuckoo” situation.
William Algar, also known as Blaise, suffered from mental health issues and was killed at his home in Barnes, which was being used as a base for drug dealing.
Lucima, along with Emeka Dawuda-Wodu, was involved in the gruesome act of dismembering Algar’s body and disposing of his limbs in a nearby nature reserve.
Lucima, a street dealer, was convicted of perverting the course of justice in connection with Algar’s murder and was sentenced to three years and three months in prison
. However, he met a tragic end himself when he was shot dead on Comeragh Road.
Dawuda-Wodu, on the other hand, admitted to disposing of Algar’s body but was acquitted of his murder. He later went on to commit another murder, stabbing rival drug dealer Ebrima Cham to death in Hounslow.
