The independent Police Review Authority overlooked six shootings and 14 incidences of taser use, the Chicago police inspector general has discovered.
No evidence showing they looked into six shootings by police officers was found by inspector general, Joseph Ferguson at Chicago police department.
Between 2007 and 2014, no records of 14 incidences of police using tasers were made in a shocking cover up to conceal excessive force used by police in Chicago, th e Chicago Tribune reported.
The inspector noted that during the historic moment of transformation of police of oversight in Chicago,
“the City should recognize that the use of force reporting is a crucial tool for meaningful transparency, accountability, and the fostering of public trust in the police department and the agency responsible for police oversight “
It is a deeply worrying sign of unprofessional ism that the police would conceal information that should be a part of their process.
The failure highlights the high level of police corruption on the Chicago force, not that it should be anything surprising.
American police have a bad reputation for corrupt conduct and racial killings. They are one of the worst in the world. The revelation is a shocking reminder of the need for the American government to urgently intervene and put its police force in check.
Chicago Police have an awful track record of brutality and professional misdemeanors, with many of their officers overdue for disciplinary action.
The latest findings automatically mean that police’s officers and bosses should face the sack for this immoral concealment which most likely was done to hide crimes committed by the force which must still.be investigated.
