East London police have released a video that shows the moment a man was violently burgled after answering his front door to a woman he thought was delivering a parcel.
The chilling CCTV video footage shows how an old 69-year-old tries to fend off the first attacker from his doorstep in Lucas Avenue while a woman, wearing a hi-vis jacket and holding a clipboard, stands by. A second individual wearing a hood to hide his identity enters the house shortly afterwards and closes the door. The incident which took place around 11.30am on Monday is a grim reminder of some of the cowardly attacks that take place in society.
The assailants no doubt knew their victims were old and would have researched them before hand. Most likely, they were tipped by their criminally minded friends. The victim was robbed of cash and goods and the incident left him traumatized. The attackers need to be caught! Everyone has or has had a father , mother, grandfather, grandmother. Nobody deserves to be subjected to such callous attack in their own home, especially at that age. Somebody knows who this man is, and lets not for one moment think reporting them can be classed as ‘grassing’. This is not what grassing is about, rather this is sending a message to coward criminals that this sort of behaviour is not acceptable even in the criminal world.
Police want anybody with information to call crime stoppers on 0800 555 111.
