Canelo Alvarez says he is adding bulk for his preparation to face Sergey Kovalev for his light heavyweight title on November 2nd, the boxing talent has said he doesn’t intend to come into that fight too undersized, hoping to weigh-in right at the light heavyweight limit of 175lbs.
Canelo, who has excelled as a middleweight says he will be lifting weight, focusing more on reps rather than lifting of heavyweights. He has won 52 fights from 55 with (35 knock outs) and is looking to make his mark against Kovalev, still a tough fighter, but who has seen better days.
“I will be on weight at 175 pounds. That’s what I’m going to weigh, 175 pounds. God willing, that’s what we’re working on,” explained Canelo, before a gym declaration.
“I’m lifting more weights. I hadn’t lifted that much previously. A lot of reps but not that much weight. So I’m lifting more weights, eating more carbs, eating protein.”
Canello’s team say training has gone really well and that their man has had lots of good sparring. The gight is being promoted by both Golden promotions and Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Sport
